Give Thanks

Updated: Nov 25, 2020

Dropping a quick hello after a food and family filled Thanksgiving which we were lucky to celebrate with a lunch and a dinner. I took several naps to get through all of the festivities... it was a long, happy day.

After a quiet Friday at work, I spent Saturday catching up on my ceramics projects, finishing the last of 100 scoops I'm sending to Seattle for a holiday order. I also made several porcelain plates to be painted and remade the lid of a tea canister that will be heading to Australia as part of a set; the first one I made shrank more than expected (#kilnadventures) and this new one is drying slowing under some plastic. Fingers crossed.

Around the house, we finally put up shelving in the bedroom that I'd been planning for months and months. Of course, most of this additional display/storage space will be for pottery ;)

Today, I'm thankful for a quietly productive afternoon at home. As I sit here writing, dough is rising for cinnamon bread, dinner is in the dutch oven, and the rare manicure I'm able to give myself these days is drying. As a potter, your hands and nails are often beat up; this polish probably won't last the week, and I'm okay with that.
