Baby Beanie Project with Lucky Palm Tree

Updated: Sep 2, 2019

Fall means the that holiday planning season is upon e-commerce and brick & mortar retailers big and small. As a shop filled with handmade, small batch goods, I have to start thinking early about my inventory, sales drivers, and any new or holiday-specific items for the year.

This year, I'm happy to be partnering again with Lucky Palm Tree, an adorable and colorful baby clothing company started by a New Yorker and a mom. She started her company of organic baby clothing to fit her own family's needs for well made, non-irritant clothing.

For this project, I'm knitting one hundred and fifty pompom beanies for babies in two sizes: up to 12 months old and 12-24 months old. Lucky Palm Tree participates in some of NYC's busiest holiday markets at Bryant Park and Columbus Circle and my hats will be available exclusively at those booths.

I love working with this brand to come up with cheery and offbeat color combinations to complement their collection. I also love this project because it becomes a family affair. My mom pitches in with knitting, my dad helps bind off yarn ends (bless him, this is the most painful part of any yarn project) and make pompoms, and my husband punches out the little card-stock tags that I affix to each hat with a note.

I'm frantically knitting on my subway rides, on nights and weekends, and even when standing in line at the post office. Hoping to have the bulk of these done by the end of the month and the rest by the 2nd week in November.

Wish us luck!
